About Malaysian Election 2008

I was excited to read the results of the last election results in Malaysia, and especially in Penang. Malaysian people showed they can change if they want and care.
First step was done, and from my experience it's not enough. For real change people who want a change need to dedicate some percent of their spare time for activities ensuring the new and fresh leadership will adhere to their promises.
History showed many places and times that a fresh alternative many times becomes a huge disappointment. Fresh alternative many times become corrupted and impotent much faster than the previous regime. See what happened in Indonesia after 30 years of Suharto dictatorship, or what happened in Israel after 30 years of Labor party rule, when the Likud gained the power in 1977.
Malaysian people should respect their new elected candidates, but suspect them at the same time. They should be given limited credit by the voters who look for change, - but voters' eyes should be kept open to see how their new representatives are using this credit. Are the representatives thinking now how to share the power only, or how to implement their promises too?... Without close follow-up by the majority of population, - there will be no real change. Every citizenry got what it deserve! Apathetic attitude of the citizenry or unlimited credit to the elected new candidates, now, - will cause Malaysia to remain the same or even go backward. Malaysian people show they can cause the chance in leadership. Now they have to force the new leadership in Penang, Perak, Selangor and Kedah to fulfill their promises and give the real change. No time for siting back happily !

Good Luck!
